Revealed: Majority of Liverpool fans want new goalkeeper and defender this summer

Like all Premier League clubs, Liverpool will be looking to bring in new additions to the team when the transfer window opens this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have shown vast improvements this season, so much so that the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January has not caused detriment to the team.

The Reds are one result away from potentially reaching a Champions League final showdown against Real Madrid, who ousted Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Klopp’s men will have to get past Roma at the Stadio Olimpico this evening, but they already have a three-goal advantage thanks to their 5-2 triumph in the first meeting at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been almost perfect in front of goal this season, and the former has struck an incredible 43 goals in all competitions in just his first campaign as a Liverpool player.

With regards to summer strengthening, unless one of Klopp’s forward three leave, then that area of the pitch may not need so much attention.

The midfield will be boosted by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, but the defence and goalkeeping situation are a work in progress, and the fans seem to agree.

In a recent poll, we asked you which areas of the pitch that Liverpool need to strengthen, and the supporters have suggested that two positions need improving.

Virgil van Dijk has certainly boosted the team’s defensive attributes when he signed from Southampton in January, but there have still been moments of concern for the back four as a whole.

In addition, Loris Karius was promoted to first-choice goalkeeper over Simon Mignolet at the start of 2018, and even though he has improved between the sticks, Liverpool may need a world-class stopper in order to compete for the Premier League title.
