Speaking on the Antena 3 programme , the full-back said: "I did everything I had to do in football, thank God I didn’t have any serious injuries, I played in the best team in the world and had the best teammates. I won some things, but there comes a time when you need new challenges; I’m not tired of football, but I wanted to do other different things too.

"I always played football with joy and not with responsibility. I always saw it as something to have fun, but there comes a time when you have to live. I took very good care of myself as a professional. It’s difficult when the time comes to decide that you’re not going to play football anymore. The first one to know was my wife. I needed more time with my family."

He added: "I’m going to take them to school, hang out more with my wife. Now I have more time to sit in an office, read and send emails. I want to get into art, music, make movies with my wife. I’ve loved music since I was little. I know some singers and I would really like to produce a song for them, make a beat. It would be a dream for me."
