Bale's love of golf didn't go down too well with fans during his time in Madrid. An infamous 'Wales, golf, Madrid' banner was described as "just a bit of banter" by Bale but led to the Welsh star being booed at times by the Santiago Bernabeu faithful. Bale left Madrid in 2022 after nine years with the club and enjoyed a brief spell in MLS with LAFC before finally deciding to retire at the age of 33.
