Mata lavishes praise on Man United teammate De Gea
Manchester United attacker Juan Mata has lavished praise on teammate David de Gea as the Spanish goalkeeper continues to produce outstanding performances.
De Gea joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and struggled to deal with the physicality of the Premier League in the early stages of his career at Old Trafford.
The 25-time Spain international has since developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world, however, with his performances bringing praise from across the globe.
He produced one of the outstanding saves of the Premier League era away to Arsenal earlier this month, and has kept nine clean sheets in 16 league matches during the 2017-18 campaign.
Mata has paid tribute to De Gea’s ‘incredible talent’, and has also praised the goalkeeper’s ability to continue producing consistent performances.
Mata told United Review:
“You know, everything has been said about David from journalists, ex-players, current players, from myself.
“He is great. He is fantastic. He has an incredible talent and has shown that in every single game in every single season, which is so difficult to do.”
United will look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat at Manchester City when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
As it stands, Jose Mourinho’s side are 11 points off league leaders City.
