Spurs table bid for Fenerbahce striker Muriqi

Tottenham Hotspur have made a bid for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi, per Turkish journalist Ferudun Nigdelioglu.

What’s the word?

Spurs are said to have made an official offer to the Turkish club, with Burnley also interested in signing the forward.

The 25-year-old, valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, has been in excellent form this season, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions.

A Kosovo international, Muriqi has won 23 caps for his country, scoring eight goals, including one against England in the 5-3 defeat at St Mary’s.

He only joined Fenerbahce in the summer, however, and it remains to be seen if he will decide to call time on his stay at the club this quickly.

No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?

Someone needed

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho desperately needs to find some support for Harry Kane.

The only other natural striker in his squad is Troy Parrott, a 17-year-old with 71 senior minutes of football under his belt.

Of course, they do have the likes of Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura, who are multifunctional forwards and can muck in up front.

But a natural striker is needed, particularly following the departure of Fernando Llorente in the summer.

Muriqi is in fine form for Fener and is also a full international; if he is willing to be a back-up to Kane, he could be just the ticket for the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have urged the club to sign a specific defender.
